Library Log 5/15/08

Robin’s Observations from the front desk: We will be closed for Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, but will re-open on Tuesday the 27th at 10 a.m. This past week we closed the library for awhile and had a lunch to honor our wonderful volunteers. It was a lot of fun! We went to the Jade CafĂ© and had a wonderful time celebrating all the time and effort our volunteers put in helping us out at the library. From dusting shelves to covering books, your library would not be as great as it is without their help! If you are interested in volunteering, please come in and talk to Gypsy Kelso or give her a call at 784-4649 ext. 3. We can always use more helping hands.

Notes from the back room: My cart was empty. I saw it, clean shinny black shelves and all ….of course it didn’t last more than a few hours! Needless to say there are quiet a few new books out there on the shelves! We had a wonderful donation of art books from the Huber family. If you are interested in exploring your artistic side come in and check them out. We have been gearing up for summer reading program. The kids (K-5) here in Florence have been coming over and meeting with Cid, the children’s librarian. She tells them what to expect and psychs them up with stories and jokes. So what does a bee use to brush his hair? – ask Cid. The teens have a reading program too this summer. Gypsy has been setting up some fabulous things for the teens! So get the kids in and make sure you have gotten them library cards!
